The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 (2nd Generation) audio interface is a great choice for anyone wanting a great sounding, quality USB audio interface for their Mac or PC, without breaking the bank.

It features two front inputs, taking both Mic / Instrument or Line level signals. It’s has a handy physical switch to choose the input type. It also has the option of phantom 48volt power for condenser mic’s, and a direct monitor switch to record with zero latency.

On the back you have a USB port, and two line outputs for connecting directly to your mixer, or powered speakers. The Scarlett 2i2 is bus powered, which means it get’s all it’s power from the USB Bus, and there’s no need for an extra power supply. Very handy for portability, and using at gigs or jam sessions.

Sound quality is very reasonable, running at 24 Bit / 96Khz (upgraded in the latest, 2nd generation version to 192Khz), and reports / reviews are in high praise for it’s great sounding converters at this price point. In terms of an audio interface at this price point, we can’t make a better recommendation. It’s got a big volume knob, which is handy when you’ve got your hands full. Two gain knobs control the input volume on channels 1 & 2.
