A kids drum kit is a great idea to introduce your child to the world of music. The drums give your child the freedom to learn a musical instrument without needing complicated lessons.

If you’re musically inclined, and can play an instrument, play along with your kids! This will teach them how to keep a beat, and motivate them to continue playing. Playing alongside your child on the drums – with a guitar or keyboard – essentially creating a jam session is not only fun, but encourages them to keep going – providing positive feedback and taking away some of the focus on themselves.
When choosing a drum kit for your children, you’ve got a range of choices and price points. Drum kits for kids are generally designed for children aged 3 and up. Often, entry level drum kits for kids are a 3 drum kit. They consist of a bass drum, snare drum, a tom and a cymbal. These are perfect for kids just starting out – and for you to ‘test the waters’ and to see if they enjoy drumming and stay interested in it.
As you go up in price – you’ll find 4 and 5 piece sets. These introduce extra cymbals and toms, giving more variety of sounds and provide more of a challenge for higher skill levels. If your child is over 8, we recommend you purchase a 4 or 5 piece kit – this will give them an extra challenge, and they’re not going to ‘outgrow’ the kit so fast. Whilst you generally pay more, it’s worth the extra investment.
